The first industrial
monument of Hungary, the charcoal heated blast furnace of Újmassa, called „Ancient
Blast Furnace”, is located 3 kilometers West from Hotel Palace in Lillafüred and
from the Lake Hámor. The Massa Museum is placed near to the Ancient Blast
furnace. This museum introduces the 100 years-old history (1770-1870) of the
Hámor Iron Mill, estabilished by Henrik Fazola.
Leaving the museum 30 meters from it on the Eastern side of the building we can
find the first industrial monument of Hungary, the charcoal heated blast furnace
of Újmassa.
Going towards from the blast furnance on the left side we can see an iron
forging shop built in 1979 with the equipment of the age.
On the opposite to the
museum, on the other side of the road we have formed our outdoor metallurgical
museum, where big machines and tools are exhibited.
